Electrical Methods Forward Modeling

Forward modeling results are reported as simulated measurements and/or simulated potential distributions according to specifications given in the output options file listed in <e4d.inp>.

Workflow for Forward Modeling

Step 1: Mesh Selection

  • If mesh exists, go to step 2
  • If mesh does not exist, create mesh using E4D Mesh Generation

Step 2: Forward Modeling Input

  • conductivity distribution
    • specify homogeneous distribution (eg. 0.01) in <e4d.inp> file
    • OR create conductivity file
    • create conductivity list file if multiple conductivity files exist
  • survey file
  • output options file

Step 3: E4D Execution

  • Create <e4d.inp> file
  • Run E4D

Output Files

  • potential file
  • <run_time.txt> file
  • simulated data file
  • simulated survey file
  • <e4d.log>
